1986 Statue of Liberty Centennial Commemorative Coins

This series of coins celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty and commemorate Ellis Island in New York harbor. This was the first issuance of a clad half dollar commemorative coin and the first minting of a $5 gold coin since 1929. These coins were available as singles or in a variety of sets in both Proof and Uncirculated finishes.
