The Panama-Pacific Exposition gold dollar
was issued in 1915 as a souvenir of the exposition held in San
Francisco to celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal. A half
dollar and $2 1/2 gold coin were also minted to mark the occasion.
Charles Keck designed the dollar coin whose obverse features
the head of a man representing a Panama Canal worker. The revere
depicts two dolphins encircling the denomination and Panama Pacific
Exposition-San Francisco around that. Mintage was 15.000.
This Pan-Pac gold dollar has a decent strike with
good lustre and mark-free surfaces. This coin is PQ for the grade.
