The Cincinnati Music Center commemorative
half dollar was minted to commemorate the 50th anniversary in
1936 of Cincinnati as a center of music. The obverse features
the bust of composer Stephen Foster, America's Troubadour, although
the celebration bore no relation to him. The reverse features
a lady playing the lyre representing the personification of music.
The Cincinnati half was designed by Constance Ortmayer. Mintage
was only 5,005.
This Cincinnati Music Center commemorative half
dollar has a decent strike with a minimum of contact marks. The
lustre is so-so with mottled toning and spots of tarnish.
