The Daniel Boone commemorative half dollar
was minted to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth
of Daniel Boone, the famous frontiersman. The reverse design
shows Boone with Chief Black Fish. The obverse bears an image
of Daniel Boone. The coin was designed by Augustus Lukeman. Mintage
was only 2,003 and this is the rarest of the Boone commems.
This coin-type was minted for 5 years. The change
of date to 1935 for the second year's coinage resulted in a revision
of the reverse in that the date 1934 was added above Pioneer
Year.
This Daniel Boone commemorative half dollar has
a sharp strike and good lustre. The surfaces are mark-free.
