This lovely half dollar was
issued in 1936 to commemorate the sesquicentennial of Lynchburg,
Virginia. The obverse features Senator Carter Glass, a native
of Lynchburg. The reverse depicts Liberty standing in front of
the old Lynchburg courthouse. This half was designed by Charles
Keck. Mintage was a paltry 20,013 pieces.
