The silver rounds on this
page are official mintages of the Mexican Mint.
The onza was first produced
in 1949 as a medallic issue featuring a coin press on the obverse
and a balance scales on the reverse.
Onzas of this design were
produced in 1949 and again in 1978, 1979, and 1980.
The libertad featuring the
winged angel of victory was produced from 1982 through 1995.
A completely new design was
introduced in 1996.
The reverse was redesigned
in 2000 to feature a modern Mexican Eagle within a circle of
obsolete versions.
The value of these
silver rounds is directly related to the current value of silver.
