Commemorative Silver Round

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Route 66 Shield Series

From Illinois to California, Route 66 passes through eight states.

The states are Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

Travelers could find numerous one-of-a-kind sights from teepee motels to oddities such as a giant blue whale or the worlds' largest ketchup bottle. Many of these unique landmarks still exist.

These artbars are designed to resemble the famous Route 66 road sign. The eight states that Route 66 passes through are each represented by an iconic landmark.

The reverse of each reads Route 66 and lists silver weight and purity.

These Shield ingots were minted by the Sunshine Mint

Franklin Mint's Classic Automobile Emblems Series

Emblems of great cars are among the world's most recognized symbols. In honor of the 50 greatest cars of all times, the Franklin Mint issued a collection of 50 hand-enameled sterling silver ingots featuring authentic re-creations of the official marque or emblem of the 50 greatest cars. These ingots are part of that set and were issued between 1979 and 1982 by The Franklin Mint. According to the Franklin Mint Guidebook there were 4,954 sets issued.

The emblem designs are recessed into the polished ingots and then hand painted with enamel colors. Each symbol re-creation is authentic and true in both color and design. 24K gold was used to embellish selective ingots. The reverse of each ingot bears the name of the car and the country of origin. Each ingot weighs around 24 grams (3/4 Oz) and are solid sterling silver.

The original issue price was $35 per bar. These were produced and sold during the dramatic price rise in silver during the early eighties.
