The United States Sesquicentennial commemorative
gold $2 1/2 coin was issued in 1926 to mark the 150th anniversary
of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The obverse
features a standing female figure symbolic of Liberty. In one
hand, she holds a scroll representing the Declaration of Independence
and in the other, the Torch of Freedom. The reverse depicts Independence
Hall in Philadelphia where the Declaration was signed. The coin
was designed by John R. Sinnock.
This Sesquicentennial $2 1/2 gold coin has a great
strike with excellent lustre and lovely gold toning. Surfaces
are mark-free. A PQ coin for the grade.
