Introduced in 1854, the $3 gold piece was never
popular with the public and the denomination saw very little
circulation. Although minted from from 1854 through 1889, only
a little over 500,000 total coins of this denomination were produced.
PCGS has certifed only 15,412 coins of this denomination.
WOW! This 1888 $3 gold piece has an extremely strong
strike with excellent lustre and mark-free surfaces. This coin
is a gem.
